The 39th Australasian Finance and Banking Conference (AFBC) is organised by the Institute of Global Finance, UNSW Business School. The Conference will be held on 10th –12th December 2026 (In person only). The PhD forum of the Conference will be held on 9th of December.
The AFBC is the most significant and prestigious finance conference in the Asia-Pacific region. It convenes the world's foremost thought leaders from international institutions, governments, and the business community. The conference offers policymakers, academics, and industry professionals the opportunity to meet and share their policy research and interests in finance-related fields. The Conference Committee invites all academics and practitioners to participate.

PhD Forum

The 39th AFBC will include a PhD Forum for advanced Finance doctoral students currently working on their dissertations.
The one-day forum will offer accepted students a unique opportunity to present their dissertation proposals and engage in discussions with distinguished academics from leading business schools in the US, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.
During the Forum, PhD candidates will gain valuable insights into career development from leading scholars and discuss recent advances in the finance literature with fellow students and faculty members.
Education Excellence Showcase
The Education Excellence showcase is designed to acknowledge world-class educators in cutting-edge teaching practices and to promote knowledge exchange to better nurture next generation leaders in finance.

BlackRock Research Award
AU$10,000 will be awarded for the best paper in Capital Markets / Mutual Funds / Funds Management.
Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) Prize
AU$2,000 awarded to the best paper presented on Derivatives.
CFA Institute Prize
AU$1,500 will be awarded to the best paper on Sustainability.
Alt Data Tech Prize
US$1,000 will be awarded to the best paper using Alternative Data in their research.
Bureau van Dijk Prizes
AU$500 will be awarded to the best paper in Banking using BVD relevant data.
AU$500 will be awarded to the best paper in Corporate Finance / Corporate Governance / Institutional Block Holders using BVD relevant data.
