Sascha Cornell is a Ukrainian Australian interdisciplinary scholar and arts professional with expertise in cultural policy, queer theory, and curatorial studies. They hold a Master of Public Policy with a specialisation in Media and Cultural Policy from the University of Sydney, and a First Class Honours degree in Art Theory from the University of New South Wales. Sascha’s research explores the intersections of cultural policy and critical theory, with a particular focus on queer and trans theory, institutional critique, and curatorial practice.

Alongside their doctoral research, Sascha works within the Arts Investment Division at Creative Australia and has held curatorial roles at Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre and the National Trust of Australia (NSW). As a casual academic, Sascha has taught in the postgraduate course SAHT9124 Cultural Management and Policy at UNSW Art & Design.

Their work has been recognised through several awards, including the Freedman Curatorial Scholarship and inclusion on the UNSW Dean’s List for Academic Excellence.

Drawing on both academic and professional experience, Sascha is committed to developing innovative and critical approaches to understanding how queer, critical, and art theory can inform and reshape the study and practice of cultural policy.
