Shiqi-Dorothy Dong is a PhD student in Education (Mathematics Education) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), supported by the highly competitive RTP Scholarship. Her doctoral research explores the cross-cultural application of the ProInterest model to enhance mathematics learning in Vietnam, China, and Australia, with a particular focus on interest, engagement, and culturally responsive pedagogy.

Combining academic excellence with professional leadership, Shiqi-Dorothy holds a Master of Education in Curriculum and Assessment (Graduated with Excellence) from UNSW and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics (Graduated with Distinction). Prior to her postgraduate studies, she served as a mathematics teacher and deputy principal, where she led over 20 teachers and 300 students, earning multiple municipal-level teaching honours.

As a Research Assistant at the UNSW School of Education, she contributes to several high-impact research projects and publications. Her work includes a forthcoming chapter in a Springer book and peer-reviewed journal articles addressing themes such as fun mathematics, education for sustainable development, and future-oriented pedagogical approaches in mathematics.

Shiqi-Dorothy is skilled in both qualitative and quantitative research methods, including thematic analysis using NVivo, statistical analysis with SPSS, and survey design via Qualtrics. She is also proficient in a range of academic tools such as MATLAB, Python, Voyant, and Microsoft Office.

She is passionate about interdisciplinary, practice-informed research that fosters inclusive, engaging mathematics education for diverse learners across global contexts.
