Yufei Zhu is a PhD student in Media at the University of New South Wales, supported by the Australian Government RTP Scholarship. Her research interests span contemporary youth culture, digital subcultures, platform algorithms and governance, post-feminist expression, and post-cinema studies.
Alongside her academic work, Yufei is actively engaged in film and cultural practice. She has curated youth art exhibitions and independent film screenings, fostering connections between emerging creators and public cultural spaces. She also has filmmaking experience, with her works receiving national-level awards in short film and advertising design.
Prior to her PhD, she completed a Master’s in Film and Screen Studies at Goldsmiths, University of London, graduating with Distinction. Her research has been published in international journals, she has contributed a book chapter to an academic volume, and she has presented her work at multiple international conferences.
