Professor Michael Legg, Director of the Centre for the Future of the Legal Profession, has been named a 2026 AI Visionary by Relativity, a leading legal data intelligence company.
The annual list celebrates individuals who are shaping how artificial intelligence is understood, applied and integrated across the legal ecosystem, with a focus on both innovation and responsible practice.
The 2026 AI Visionaries list is the fifth annual cohort announced by Relativity. Professor Legg is one of 20 leaders recognised globally, joining senior figures from international law firms, Fortune 500 companies, academic institutions, media organisations and the public sector.
Relativity’s AI Visionaries program highlights professionals whose work advances the thoughtful adoption of AI in legal settings, emphasising ethical safeguards, human oversight and practical impact. The honourees were announced ahead of Legalweek 2026, which is happening this week in New York. This major industry event brings together leaders in legal technology and innovation.
At the Centre for the Future of the Legal Profession, Professor Legg leads research and engagement examining how emerging technologies can enhance legal processes, improve access to justice and support courts, regulators and practitioners in navigating technological change. His work contributes to national and international discussions on governance, regulation and the responsible deployment of AI in law.
Whilst sad not to be able to attend the recognition dinner with his fellow honourees, which took place on Monday in New York, Michael said, “It is an honour to be recognised as an AI visionary alongside international legal sector leaders who are actively engaged with the practical issues of using AI in law.”
