Bula Vinaka and hello! I’m Max, and my research interests lie in marine conservation, particularly the ecology and management of lobsters, octopus, and coconut crabs. I completed my Bachelor of Science at the University of the South Pacific, where I developed a strong foundation in tropical marine ecosystems and coastal resource management. Later, I pursued a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering at Kyoto University in Japan, investigating how freshwater Raphidophytes influence the formation potential of disinfection byproducts—a project that deepened my interest in water quality and ecosystem health. Beyond research, I enjoy exploring the ocean environments of the Pacific, learning about local conservation practices, and sharing stories of island resilience and sustainability.
