Dr Carolyn Mazariego

Dr Carolyn Mazariego is an implementation scientist and health services researcher with a focus on strategies and methods to ensure person-centred models of routine care. She specialises in designing for implementation from the outset, using process mapping, co-design, and implementation frameworks to ensure innovations are scalable, sustainable, and embedded into routine clinical workflows. Her research interests centre on digital health innovation design, particularly tools that enhance person-centred care and integrate patient-reported measures across the cancer continuum.  Dr Mazariego holds a Cancer Institute NSW Early Career Research Fellowship which aims to co-design, implement, and evaluate tumour-specific patient-reported outcome modules for prostate, ovarian, and head and neck cancers, and leading a national scoping project to identify and address gaps in cancer survivorship and supportive care.

Dr Mazariego holds a leadership role within the Clinical Oncology Society of Australia (COSA), where she is the Chair of the Policy and Implementation Subcommittee, guiding national initiatives to strengthen survivorship models of care and align them with the Australian Cancer Plan. She is also committed to building capacity in implementation science among cancer researchers and clinicians, serving as a national facilitator for the Training Institute for Dissemination and Implementation Research in Health (TIDIRH Australia) and contributing to the Implementation Science and Digital Health Master level course at UNSW.
