Weather of the 21st Century

Leena is a Research Fellow at the ARC Centre of Excellence for the 21st Century Weather at UNSW. Her research focuses on the mechanisms driving sub hourly extreme precipitation events, their connections to large-scale weather systems, and how they might evolve with climate change. She aims to enhance our understanding of atmospheric circulations and their role in climate extremes, ensuring these phenomena are accurately represented in predictive models.

Leena is an Eco-climatologist exploring extreme precipitation events, wildfires, and land-atmosphere interactions using information theory and numerical modeling approaches. Her research uses AWS and radar datasets, flux tower measurements, remote sensing, and reanalysis datasets.
