What is Work Integrated Learning (WIL)?
WIL stands for “work-integrated-learning” and refers to initiatives that allow students to apply their academic studies in a professional context. In short, WIL offers you the opportunity to do professional work experience related to your area of study and earn course credit for it. WIL courses help you to develop your career-readiness skills, build professional networks and provide you with an edge in an increasingly competitive graduate labour market. It’s perfect for students who want real-world experience and to try out potential employers before graduating.
WIL can be undertaken online, on-campus or in the workplace. The work could be research-focused, office-based, field work; it could be in government, in industry, at a research institution; it could be with a large organisation, an SME or a start-up. Some placements can be located in rural or remote settings and provide the opportunity to work in diverse cultural settings. It’s fair to say that undertaking a work placement will not only shape your career but also provide an unforgettable experience.
The WIL team also ensures that you are prepared and supported by to gaining experience though a WIL placement or internship.
