Wipeout Dementia 2024: A monumental success!
Amidst Sydney’s torrential rain and flood warnings, the spirit of resilience and solidarity shone brightly at Wipeout Dementia.
Despite the challenging conditions, the Captains, teams and Ambassadors Owen Wright, Mark ‘Occy’ Occhilupo and Wayne ‘Rabbit’ Bartholomew AM all rallied together - demonstrating a clear commitment to combating dementia and raising nearly $250,000 for CHeBA. This effort underscores the power of community and an unwavering dedication to bettering the lives of people impacted by dementia.
The 2022 Wipeout Dementia was the biggest event to date!
On 25 March 2022, 64 surfers representing more than 50 companies across the property industry competed at Bondi Beach and raised over $350,000 in support of The Dementia Momentum.

On 25 March the 11th Wipeout Dementia® surf contest ran Sydney’s iconic Bondi Beach. 64 senior executives across the property surfed it off, while raising money for critical dementia research at CHeBA and awareness about the modifiable risk factors of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias.

First ever inter-generational Wipeout Dementia®, May 2019
In May 2019, 16 father/son, father/daughter, uncle/nephew duos aged 10-70 teamed up for the first Inter-Generational Wipeout Dementia®.

A group of Sydney surfers aged between 10 and 70 years of age competed in the first ever inter-generational ‘Wipeout Dementia’ at Queenscliff beach on Saturday 25 May 2019 to raise funds for research at the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA).

Wipeout Dementia® Get On Board
Wipeout Dementia® runs each May and November at Queenscliff or Bondi Beach by the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA). Created by Heidi Douglass (Communications & Projects Officer), this campaign raises funds for dementia research under The Dementia Momentum® at CHeBA, led by internationally acclaimed leaders in the field, Scientia Professor Henry Brodaty AO and Professor Perminder Sachdev AM.
Ambassadors for this campaign are Richard Grellman AM and 1978 World Surfing Champion Wayne 'Rabbit' Bartholomew AM.
