An introduction to Unconscious Bias

This short, stand-alone self-paced module provides foundational information about unconscious bias and how people make quick perceptions or judgments based on things such as prejudices, stereotypes and preferences.

The module includes introductory material focusing on:

  • Key concepts and terms
  • Reflecting on our own unconscious bias
  • Identifying strategies to mitigate unconscious bias in work-based scenarios
    1. Log into Moodle
    2. Select the link for the course you would like to join: Unconscious Bias@UNSW
    3. Enter the learner enrolment key: Unconscious Bias@UNSW-Learner
    4. The course will appear in your Moodle dashboard.
    1. Log into MyUNSW and click on My Staff Profile 
    2. Click Learning and Development tab 
    3. Click Search by Course Number 
    4. Enter Course Code: UNCONS and click Search 
    5. Select View Available Sessions 
    6. Select Session 0001. For all online courses, there is only one session. 
    7. Ensure the waiting list check box is ticked and click Continue 
    8. Click Submit.

    The course will appear in your Moodle dashboard within 24-48 hours.
