Be part of food and water security solutions in the Asia-Pacific region
Convened by the University of Technology Sydney, the UNSW Global Water Institute and Northwestern University, the Network brings together voices from community groups, research institutions, governments, major international development agencies, UN and intergovernmental bodies, and national peak organisations; fostering collaboration across local, national, and global levels.
We are currently welcoming new members. Membership offers access to news, reports, events, and networking opportunities, and gives you the chance to share your work through the network’s activities and publications.
This report summarises the events, presentations, outcomes and attendees from the first FoodWISE Asia-Pacific Regional Meeting, held in September 2025.
The FoodWISE Asia Pacific Workshop, co-hosted by Professors Jacqui Webster (University of Technology Sydney, Australia), Greg Leslie (University of New South Wales, Australia), and Sera Young (Northwestern University, United States of America), brought together a diverse group of leaders, researchers and community advocates from more than fifteen countries to tackle the urgent and interconnected challenges of food and water security in the region.
We connect people to strengthen food and water security in the region, in order to improve the health of humans and the planet.
The FoodWISE event on 17-18 September 2025 was a landmark, regional, two-day workshop that brought dozens of international experts and community leaders together from 15 different countries. This event marked the official launch of the FoodWISE Asia-Pacific Network.
Hosted jointly by UTS, UNSW, and Northwestern University, the workshop attracted people from Fiji, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Philippines, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Vietnam, Thailand, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, India, US, UK, and Australia.
