Our culturally governed research gathers evidence on how cultural practices and time on Country can improve the health and wellbeing of Indigenous people in Australia.
Our research aims to show that culture practised on Country improves Indigenous peoples’ physical health and social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing.
Relationships with culture and Country have always shaped the physical, mental and spiritual health of Indigenous people. Yet, ongoing colonisation and racism continue to create inequitable health outcomes.
Gaawaadhi Gadudha translates to ‘from freshwater to saltwater’. It represents the collaboration between Yuwaalaraay, Gamilaraay (freshwater) and Yuin-Djirringanj (saltwater) traditional Cultural Knowledge Holders.
Our research aims to gather evidence to show that culture acts as a protective factor for health among Indigenous people.
